Prairie Switch Wind will provide a reliable and sustainable energy source to the Texas electric grid, and will bring significant long-term investment to the Wharton County community. Once built, Prairie Switch will contribute millions of dollars toward the local tax base.

This wind project will supplement traditional energy sources that the County has relied upon for decades, while co-existing with ongoing agricultural activities. The project’s landowner lease payments, and its creation of several full-time wind technician and management positions, will boost local economic development. The project has generated significant employment opportunities and workers stimulate the local economy through spending at accommodation providers and small businesses, such as restaurants.

To demonstrate our growing and ongoing community partnership, the project team has made contributions to local community organizations and efforts including Hesed House of Wharton County, the Wharton County Stray Pet Outreach Team and OakBend Medical Center expansion project.
